Threema — Setup Guide
To ensure everyone's identity and data remain private in our upcoming group chat, please configure your Threema app using these four simple steps before joining.
Hide Your Personal Details (Phone & Email)
By default, Threema allows people to find you if they have your phone number or email saved. To prevent your contact details from being linked to your group presence:
- Go to the Settings tab.
- Tap Privacy.
- Under the Contact section, turn OFF both Sync Contacts and Find by Phone Number / Email.
Set an Anonymous Profile Name
In a group chat, other participants can see the nickname you choose. Do not use your real name if you wish to remain unknown.
- Go to the My ID tab (bottom navigation bar).
- Tap your current name/alias at the top.
- Change it to an anonymous nickname or alias that cannot be traced back to you.
Automatically Delete Chat History After One Month
To keep everyone's local device storage clear and limit how long message history is exposed, please set your app to automatically clear out old conversations:
- Go to Settings > Storage Management.
- Tap Manage All Chats and look for Automatic Deletion.
- Set the deletion timer to 1 month.
Let Me Know You Are on Threema
Once you have purchased and set up the Threema App, send me a message letting me know that you are on board.
- My character ID is ZM2TAXJM.
- I will then add you to the KTP Pilot group.
Group Privacy
Technical settings protect the files on your phone, but they cannot stop another member from taking a physical photo or a screenshot of their screen. Please respect everyone's privacy — what is shared in this group stays in this group!
